Anja Kreysing

Anja Kreysing is a post-cinematic composer and sound artist whose practice unfolds between expanded cinema, electroacoustic composition, and the tactile presence of the body. Her accordion – wired to synthesizers and digital processors – acts as a breathing interface between tradition and transformation.

Through layered video, digital drawing, and electroacoustic texture, Kreysing explores the cinematic moment as a fluid state where listening, memory, and emotion fuse into perception.
Fascinated by the emotional architecture of cinema – its capacity to suspend time, summon memory, and evoke collective sentiment – she translates this experience into the auditory field. Her work moves from dark, textural soundscapes to fragile melodic traces, from abstract noise to an almost folkloric lyricism.
They show how narrative can persist through abstraction and how the poetic can quietly inhabit the political.

Rooted in personal geography and folk-cultural memory, Kreysing’s practice spans across concert stages, museums, and outdoor spaces – from Tunisia to Vienna, Bratislava, Turin, Genoa, and Copenhagen.
In Germany, her work has been presented at institutions such as Staatsgalerie Stuttgart, LAB30 Augsburg, Museum Bochum, Kunsthalle Münster, Campus Zollverein Essen, and Silent Film Cinema Delphi Berlin.
As a Certified Deep Listening® Practitioner (Pauline Oliveros), she combines her artistic work with teaching, collaborations, and interdisciplinary projects, continuing to explore how attention, resonance, and empathy can redefine artistic form.

In addition to her solo practice, Kreysing co-curates the label schwarz-weiss ist die bessere farbe and other ongoing series for electroacoustic and time-based art, building long-term networks between experimental musicians, filmmakers, and performers.
